By Road:

York is only a few miles off the M1 and A1 London-Edinburgh highway.

From whichever direction you approach, access is easy via the

A64 York Bypass or A1237 Outer Ring Road which avoids the City Centre.

Travel Directions

Approaching York from the South:

Follow the A1 North or M1 North (via A1 Link) to where they join the A64 Leeds – York/Scarborough road.

Take the A64 towards York/Scarborough.

Follow the A64 York Bypass for approximately 19 miles ignoring all signs and slip roads for York (i.e. go past slip roads signed A1237, A1036, A19, A166/A1079) and continue until you come up to the traffic lights at the first roundabout on the A64.

At the traffic lights take the left hand exit lane, signed A1036 York. Keep in this lane.

At the next roundabout (approx. 150 metres), take the left hand exit lane, signed A1036 York

Take the first left turn (approx. 300 metres) just before the ‘Hopgrove Pub & Toby Carvery` into Hopgrove Lane South, signed Hopgrove and Stockton-on-Forest.

At the first `T` junction, turn right, signed York – this is Stockton Lane. Blakeney House is on the left after one and a half miles.

Approaching York from the North:

Follow the A1(M) South to where it joins the A59 Harrogate – York road.

Take the A59 towards York until you reach the A1237.

Turn left (first exit) onto the A1237 York Outer Ring Road, signed Scarborough and Malton.

Follow A1237 towards Scarborough (going straight on at several roundabouts) until you reach a roundabout where the third exit is signed A1036 York. Take the A1036 towards York.

Approaching from York City Centre:

Take A1036 Malton Road north (signed A64 Scarborough) from the City Walls near Monkbar Gate, along Monkgate. Go straight over the first roundabout (second exit) into Heworth Green.

At the next roundabout, take the right hand approach lane and go straight over (second exit) into Stockton Lane. Blakeney House is on the right hand side after ½ a mile.

By Rail:

A short journey by road either by taxi (available in the Station) or by Coastliner Bus Service from just outside York Main Line Station which has direct links to London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Leeds and Peterborough.

By Coach:

National Express run regular coach services to York.
